Standard and Business English education, coaching and tutoring.
Learning & perfecting English easily and in a relaxed manner, step-by-step - through practical applications and exercises from a native-speaker with lots of experience teaching kids and adults in an international education environment (CAE, FCE, IELTS, TOEFL, ...) - what differentiates this school from others is that I add lots of patience, heart, warmth and play, along with questioning and analytical skills...
If you like the conventional-structured approach, and you aren't sure which you'd like to focus on, you might want to check this page out:
IELTS, TOEFL, or CAE - Which Test Is Right for Me?, or I can help you choose...
Otherwise, if you just want to improve your English (grammar, speaking, vocabulary, reading -- analyzing texts, presentation skills, etc.), no problem - I can get you going with that, also.
The focus will be on you - your needs and requirements, your field of expertise - fine-tuning and honing your skills to reach mastery - to feel comfortable speaking English anywhere.
Classes will be tailor-made for individuals or for groups or businesses with related, relevant content - based upon an initial personal interview.
“Clubs”
will also be available: The only requirements for club membership are to
have an intermediate level (or above) of English, a desire to improve
and an open mind. The goal is to be comfortable and enjoy engagement in
the club - sharing feelings, thoughts and ideas while gaining
confidence and assertiveness using English in public. Participants will
have almost total freedom to express themselves and to formulate their
standpoint and point of view. Members will be supportive, helping
others with their suggestions in a respectful way and work together to
improve one-another’s English understanding and performance.
We will have conversation-discussion (thus vocabulary and
speaking-listening skills will be enhanced), grammar will be worked on
(in context), critical-thinking skills will be elaborated upon and,
finally, lots of questioning and self-questioning will be involved –
all the clubs will have such a philosophical element associated with
them, as I personally believe this is important to learning.

A bit about myself (Jack)…
I’m originally from America, but I have
Belgian nationality, also, and I have been living in Europe for over 25
years. I have high standards together with a lot of patience and a relaxed, laid-back style
acquired with over twenty years of English-teaching experience in European and
international schools – including Philosophy in the European and
International Baccalaureate and IB TOK and History.
I’ve taught English mainly to high school kids from 11-18 (from absolute
beginners to advanced Language and Literature students), but I’ve also
designed the curriculum for (and taught) Business English at a vocational school for
adults in Antwerp, Belgium.
Qua qualifications, I have a Master of Philosophy diploma and a degree in teaching from KU
Leuven; and three Bachelor of Arts degrees in English, Studio Art and Biology from the
University of Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC); a CELTA certificate for
teaching English as a foreign language; Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
in the UK; and I am certified to give "Philosophy for Children" classes.
